Sparkle Punch and more...

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to stop in and update everyone on what's being going on in my quilting room. I finally decided on a quilt pattern and have actually started working on it. I used the pattern Sparkle Punch by Elizabeth Hartman. I found the pattern in Love of Quilting magazine, issue July/August 2012. (Thrift store find.) But you can also find a tutorial on her website.

The quilt uses 20 fat quarters which I picked out of my fabric stash. I'm using a thrift store sheet for the background. I'll probably use a sheet for the backing too, but I haven't picked that or the binding fabric out yet.

This pattern is rated as Intermediate. I wish I had paid more attention to that as the directions are a little confusing. But I think once I get everything up on the design wall, it will be fairly straight forward as the layout is based on the plus quilt. (And we all know how much I love my plus quilts.)

Here are a few pictures of the fabric/cut pieces.

There are a total of 384 Star Point Units. To help with all the cutting I decided to bring out my newest helper. A Cricut Maker that I brought myself for my birthday.

This was only the second time using the Cricut Maker (the first time I made a birthday card) and the first time using it to cut fabric. I really like how it turned out, though the learning curve is pretty steep.

I purchased the Cricut Maker after researching fabric cutting machines and decided on it because of the numerous things you can do with it. It was well worth the price compared to other cutting machines.

So, for the next few weeks, I will be working on Sparkle Punch. But once that's done, I already have my next quilt planned. I'll tell you about that later. 😊

Until next time...

Camille
